In a recent incident from the Madhya Pradesh district of Chhatarpur, a 13-year-old rape survivor was allegedly detained and assaulted at a police station as she went there to file a complaint.

The incident reported happened on August 30. Three police officers were suspended on Wednesday as a result of the incident. The alleged rape accused, Babu Khan, was reportedly taken into custody on September 3. According to a report, he was charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

According to Chhatarpur SP Sachin Sharma, Yadav, Sub-Inspector Mohini Sharma, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurudutt Shesha have been suspended, according to Chhatarpur SHO Anoop Yadav, for imprisoning the victim at the police station.

After the district child welfare committee lodged a complaint, a case was brought in this regard (CWC).

The victim’s mother asserted that she left the house on August 27 to go play but did not come back. Later, her father reported her missing at the Kotwali police station.

On August 30, the girl returned home and told her parents that Babu Khan reportedly took her against her will to his residence, where he raped her for three days.

The girl’s mother claimed that when her daughter went to the police station to register a rape report, she was kicked and belted. Additionally, she said that two police women pressured her daughter to retract her statement.
