Eleven coal miners were killed, while four others were seriously injured after unidentified men first abducted them and then opened fire in Quetta.
According to Geo News, police said that the armed men took the coal miners to nearby mountains and opened fire. Eleven were confirmed dead by police while others injured were reported to be in critical condition.
Deputy Commissioner Bolan Murad Kasj said that the four injured people in the incident were being treated in the hospital.
Soon after the incident, security forces, police, local administration and Frontier Corps (FC) cordoned off the area, while ambulances were dispatched from Quetta to retrieve the bodies.
The incident has spread fears among the miners of Machh, who are now fearful of being the next target of the terrorists.
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal condemned the incident and sought a detailed inquiry report from the concerned authorities on priority. “All means to be exhausted for the arrest of the perpetrators. Those who targeted these innocent coal miners do not deserve any concession.
Elements behind such terrorist attacks will be taken to task. Their only motive was to disturb Balochistan’s peace.”
“No stone will be left unturned in the arrest of the accused,” provincial Home Minister Mir Zia Langau said, while strongly condemning the attack. “An unsuccessful attempt is being made to sabotage the peace of the province,” he added.
