Mabilog says he is still with LP
By Francis Allan L. Angelo
ILOILO City Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said he remains loyal to the Liberal Party despite securing the endorsement of former president and convicted plunderer Joseph Estrada.
Mabilog, who is running for Iloilo City mayor, issued the clarification amidst reports that he is not entirely committed to the LP campaign because of Estrada’s endorsement.
Mabilog was seen hobnobbing with the ousted Philippine at Westown Hotel when the latter visited Iloilo Thursday last week.
Estrada said his party, the Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) chose Mabilog as its guest mayoral candidate in Iloilo City.
Mabilog said his presence in the PMP gathering does not mean that he has left LP.
“I was there to show support to my running mate, Councilor Julienne
Baronda who is a PMP member. Yes I was endorsed as PMP’s guest
candidate in Iloilo City but I’m still with Liberal,” he said.
Another Iloilo City mayoral candidate, Presidential Adviser on Waters
Larry Jamora said he was also invited to the PMP activity but he
declined because he is committed to administration bet Gilbert Teodoro.
Jamora said his friend, former agrarian reform secretary Horacio “Boy”
Morales, sought his help to campaign for Estrada in Iloilo.
“But I told them that I was committed to Teodoro because we are related
aside from being members of the same party,” Jamora said.
